For to Us a Child is Born

Pastor Chang Kim

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Introduction

Why do we have Christmas? What is Christmas?

Isaiah writes to us in chapter 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

What Isaiah prophesied 2,700 years ago has yet to be fully understood by the people of our generation.

  1. Savior is coming

A savior is coming.  There is no greater news than that.

Are you excited? Are we ready for the coming of our Savior?

  1. Child will be born v6

For to us a child is born

In order for this child to be born to us, then we must be born to this child.

Charles Spurgeon once wrote: “If any man tells me that Christ is his Redeemer, although he has never experienced regeneration, that man utters what he does not know; his religion is vain, and his hope is a delusion. Only men who are born again can claim the babe in Bethlehem as being theirs.”

Is a child born to you today? Have we accepted Jesus Christ into your lives?

  1. Son is given v6

To us a son is given.

John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

A Savior is coming, a child will be born, a son is given.  Does this mean anything to us today?

Conclusion:

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
