Ephesians 6:1-4
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Introduction
Ephesians 5:21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
I. Children are E to Obey vv1-3
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”
Solomon teaches us that fearing the Lord as a term of respect, recognizing His Holiness, power and complete authority over your life. Meaning, as children, God has given to us parents who have authority over our lives and we are to be obedient.
Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
II. G the Children in the Lord v4
4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
